To begin, ch 18, turn. 1st row: Tr in 5th ch from hook, tr in next ch, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, tr in each of next 2 ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: Tr in 2nd tr, * ch 2, tr in each of next 2 tr. Repeat from * across, ending row with tr in each of 2 tr, tr in turning ch-4. Ch 4, turn. 3rd row: * Tr in each of next 2 tr, ch 2. Repeat from * across, ending row with 2 tr. Ch 10, turn. 4th and 5th rows: Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows but ch 2 (instead of ch 10), do not turn, but make 18 tr in ch-10 loop, ch 2, sl st in tr of 2nd row. Ch 1, turn. 6th row: S c under ch-2, s c in 1st tr, * ch 5, skip 1 tr, s c in each of next 2 tr. Repeat from * until 6 loops in all are made, s c under ch-2, s c in next tr, ch 4, tr in next tr, ** ch 2, tr in each of next 2 tr. Repeat from ** across, ending row with 2 tr, tr in turning ch-4. 7th and 8th rows: Repeat 3rd and 2nd rows, but turning with ch-4 (instead of ch-10) on the 3rd row. 9th row: Repeat 3rd row. 10th and 11th rows: Repeat 4th and 5th rows. 12th row: Repeat 6th row. The last 6 rows (7th to 12th incl.) constitute the pattern. Work in pattern for length desired. Break off. Attach thread to base of 1st row and work as follows: Working along loop edge, make 2 s c over bar of 1st tr, * ch 4, ** 2 s c in next loop. Repeat from * 5 more times, ch 4, 2 s c under bar of center tr, ch 4. Repeat from ** across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: 3 s c under 1st ch-4, ch 1, * 8 s c under each ch-4 loop, s c in next s c, ch 4, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c. Repeat from * across. Break off.
