EDGING No. 8554B … Make a chain slightly longer than desired length. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: * Tr in next 3 s c, holding back the last st of each tr on hook; thread over and draw through all loops on hook (a cluster); ch 3. Repeat from * across, ending with a cluster. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: S c in next sp, ch 6, in same sp make 8 d c with ch-1 between. * Ch 1, skip next sp, s c in next sp, ch 1, skip 1 sp; in next sp make 9 d tr with ch-1 between. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 1, skip next sp, s c in next sp. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: S c in 1st sp between d tr's; * (ch 3, s c in next sp) 7 times, ch 2, skip next d tr, s c and d tr; s c in next sp. Repeat from * across. Fasten off.

MOTIF No. 8554A … 1st rnd: Starting at center ch 21, d c in 6th ch from hook; (ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch) 5 times, ch 5, sl st in 1st ch made. 2nd rnd: Ch 1, s c in each st around, making 5 s c in center st of each of 2 end sps; join with sl st. 3rd rnd: Ch 4 (to count as tr), tr in next 2 sts, holding back the last loop of each tr on hook, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (a cluster). * Ch 3, tr in next 3 sts, holding back the last loop of each tr on hook, and complete a cluster as before. Repeat from * 5 more times. ** Ch 3, tr in same place as last tr of last cluster was made, holding back the last loop; tr in next 2 sts, completing a cluster as before. Repeat from ** once more, ch 3, cluster in next 3 s c and work other side and end to correspond, ending with ch 1, half d c at tip of 1st cluster (18 clusters). 4th rnd: S c in sp, ch 6 (to count as d tr and ch-1); in same sp make 9 d tr with ch-1 between; ch 1, skip 1 sp, s c in next sp, ch 1, skip 1 sp; 9 d tr with ch-1 between in next sp, ch 1, s c in next sp, ch 1, skip next cluster and sp; in tip of next cluster make 9 d tr with ch-1 between; ch 1, skip next sp and cluster, s c in next sp, ch 1, in next sp make 9 d tr with ch-1 between, ch 1, skip next sp, s c in next sp and continue thus around, ending with ch 1, sl st in 5th st of ch-6 first made. 5th rnd: Sl st in 1st sp between d tr's, * (ch 3, s c in next sp) 7 times, ch 2, skip d tr, s c and d tr.
