Make a chain slightly longer than desired length. 1st row: S c in 8th ch from hook, * ch 5, skip 2 ch, s c in next ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 6, turn. 2nd row: * S c in next loop, ch 5. Repeat from * across. Ch 4, turn. 3rd row: * S c in next loop, ch 2. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 4th row: S c in 1st s c, * 2 s c in ch-2 sp, s c in next s c, ch 7, skip ch-2, s c and the ch-2, make s c in next s c. Repeat from * across, ending with 4 s c. Ch 1, turn. 5th row: S c in each of 2 s c, ** ch 4, skip 3 ch of ch-7, into next ch make d c, ch 3 and d c; ch 4, skip 1 s c, * insert hook in next s c and draw loop through; repeat from * once more, thread over and draw through all loops on hook. Repeat from ** across, ending with s c in each of last 2 s c. Ch 1, turn. 6th row: S c in 1st s c, * s c in next ch-4 loop, ch 4; into ch-3 loop (between 2 d c) make d c, ch 3 and d c. Ch 4, s c in next ch-4 loop. Repeat from * across, ending with s c in last s c. Fasten off.
