1st row: Attach thread ⅜ inch to left of one corner and work s c closely along rolled edge of handkerchief. Join with sl st to 1st s c made. 2nd row: Ch 5, * skip 1 s c, d c in next s c, ch 2. Repeat from * across, making d c, ch 2 and d c at corners, and ending with ch 2, sl st in 3rd ch of ch-5. 3rd row: Sl st in next 2 ch, ch 5, d c in next sp, ch 2, d c in next sp, * ch 2, 2 d c in next sp, d c in next d c, 3 d c in next sp, d c in next d c, 2 d c in next sp; (ch 2, d c in next sp) 3 times. Repeat from * across, having a d c-group at both sides of corners, with ch 2, (d c, ch 2 and d c in corner sp), ch 2 between, and ending with ch 2, sl st in 3rd ch of ch-5. 4th row: Sl st in next sp, ch 3, d c in same sp, * ch 1, 2 d c in next sp, d c in next d c, 3 d c in next sp, d c in next d c, ch 7, skip 7 d c, d c in next d c, 3 d c in sp, d c in next d c, 2 d c in sp. Repeat from * across, having 2 d c-groups at corners with ch 2, d c in corner sp and ch-2 between, and ending with 3 d c in sp, d c in next sl st, sl st in 3rd ch of ch-3, turn; sl st back in last d c, turn. 5th row: Ch 5, * d c in next ch-1, ch 2, skip 3 d c, d c in next d c, ch 6, skip 3 ch of ch-7, d c in next ch, ch 6, skip 3 d c, d c in next d c, ch 2.
