Starting at short end, ch 10. 1st row: S c in 10th ch from hook, ch 10, turn. 2nd row: D c at base of ch-10 just made, ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch, ch 10, turn. 3rd row: * D c in 1st d c, ch 2, d c in 2nd d c, ch 10, turn. Repeat from * for desired length. Break off.
Scallops. 1st row: Attach thread in center st of 1st sp made, ch 5, * 9 d c in next ch-10 loop on long side of edging, with ch-1 between each d c, s c in next ch-10 loop. Repeat from * across, ending row with s c in last ch-10 loop, turn. 2nd row: * S c in next ch-1 sp, (ch 3, s c in next sp) 7 times. Repeat from * across. To make a chain along opposite long side of edging, work as follows: Attach thread at center st of last ch-2 sp made, ch 8, * s c in next ch-10 loop (opposite scalloped edge) twisting loop once to the left, ch 5. Repeat from * across, ending row with s c in last twisted ch-10 loop.
