To begin, make a chain slightly longer than length desired. 1st row: D c in 5th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch. Repeat from * across (number of sps should be divisible by 4, plus 1), turn. 2nd row: * Ch 7, s c in next d c, 2 s c in next sp, s c in next d c, ch 5, s c in next d c, 2 s c in next sp, s c in next d c. Repeat from * across, ending row with ch-7, s c in last d c, turn. 3rd row: Sl st to center of ch-7 loop, * ch 5, in next ch-5 loop make a 3-tr cluster (to make a cluster, make 3 tr in the same loop, always holding last loop of each tr on hook; then, thread over hook and take off all remaining loops; ch 1 to fasten cluster), ch 3, make another 3-tr cluster in same loop, ch 5, s c in next ch-7 loop. Repeat from * across, turn. 4th row: Ch 5, * in ch-3 between clusters make a 5-tr cluster, ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5. Repeat from * across. 5th row: Make 7 s c in each loop across. Break off.
