To begin, make a chain slightly longer than desired length, turn. 1st row: D c in 8th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch (sp). Repeat from * across, having an even number of sps on row, turn. 2nd row: Ch 5 (to count as d c and ch-2), * skip 2 ch of sp, d c in next d c, 2 d c in sp, d c over next d c (bl). Ch 2 and repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Skip 1st bl, * 2 d c in next sp, ch 2, 2 d c in same sp (a shell). Skip next bl and repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: 2 d c under first ch-2, ch 2, 2 d c under same ch-2, s c between 1st and 2nd shells of previous row. Continue in this manner across. Break off.
