To begin, with White make a chain slightly longer than desired length, turn. 1st row: D c in 7th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch. Repeat from * across (sps should be divisible by 5). Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: S c in 1st sp, * ch 5, s c in next sp. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: S c in 1st loop, ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 2, d c in next loop, ch 5, turn, s c in next loop, ch 2, d c in next loop, ch 5 turn. 4th row: S c in next loop, ch 7, s c in next loop of foundation row, turn, make 9 s c under ch-7 loop just made, 3 s c in next loop, ch 5, turn. 5th row: * Skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, ch 5. Repeat from * across, ** ch 5, s c in next loop (foundation). Repeat from ** twice, then ch 2, d c in next loop, ch 5, turn, s c in 1st loop, ch 2, d c in next loop, ch 5, turn. Hereafter repeat the 4th and 5th rows alternately across. Break off. Attach Bright Nile Green to foundation chain, ch 3, d c in each ch and in each d c across. Break off.
Darning. Attach Bright Nile Green to 2nd loop of scallop and darn over the 2 diagonal loops until they are completely filled in. Skip next loop and work the 2 corresponding loops of same scallop in same way. Then work over the 2 sps between scallops. Continue in this manner across (see illustration).
