Romance in handkerchief edgings
Dainty edgings give a delightfully feminine air to handkerchiefs. Crochet these interesting new designs with J. & P. Coats Tatting Cotton, size 70, or the fine sizes from 50 to 100 of J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet—either white or any of the lovely pastels. Use Milward's steel crochet hook No. 10, 12 or 14.

Repeat from *. Divide work so that tr will come in corner s c with 1 s c (of previous row) on each side. Continue with pattern and join with s c in ch-5. 3rd row: Ch 5, * d c in next sp, ch 2, d c in next sp, ch 2, d c in next sp, ch 5, s c in 3rd ch from hook for a p, ch 2, tr in tr, ch 5, s c in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, tr in same tr, ch 5, s c in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, d c in 1st ch-2 sp, ch 2, repeat from * to end of row. Join with s c in ch 5.
4th row: Ch 5, * d c in next sp, ch 2, d c in next sp, ch 5, s c in 3rd ch from hook for a p, ch 2, tr in tr, ch 5, s c in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, tr in p, ch 5, s c in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, tr in same p, ch 5, s c in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, tr in tr, ch 5, s c in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, d c in 1st ch-2 sp, ch 2, repeat from *. In corner p, make 3 tr (instead of 2) with ch and p between. Continue with pattern. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of ch-5 first made.
