Doilies
Outline shows the finished size of the linen center for this interesting doily. To mark your linen for hemstitching, make a tracing on tissue paper of the doily you wish to make. Your tracing can be transferred to the linen and the hemstitching done on this line.
The edgings are made with J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, size 40 or 50, White or Ecru. Dainty pastels and lovely shaded colors are obtainable in size 50. Use Milward's steel crochet hook No. 10 or 11.

Attach thread at 1st sp on upward slope of scallop (next to sp that divides 2 scallops). Make 4 loops of ch-5 over scallop spacing s c's evenly. After making s c for last loop, skip sp that divides the 2 scallops, s c in next (to start work on next scallop). Continue as before. At corner scallops, make 10 loops. 2nd row: Sl st to center of 1st ch-5 loop. * Ch 5, s c under next ch-5 loop. Repeat from * around, but make ch-2 instead of ch-5 for loop between scallops. 3rd row: Sl st to center of ch-5 below, ch 8. * Under next loop work a 3-tr cluster, ch 6, s c in 5th ch from hook (to make picot), ch 1, 3-tr cluster under same loop, ch 6, s c in 5th ch from hook, ch 1, 3-tr cluster under same loop, ch 5, d c in next loop, skip ch-2 loop, d c in next loop, ch 5, repeat from * around, making 3 motifs over each corner scallop. After d c of last motif, join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-8. Fasten off.
