Romance in handkerchief edgings
Dainty edgings give a delightfully feminine air to handkerchiefs. Crochet these interesting new designs with J. & P. Coats Tatting Cotton, size 70, or the fine sizes from 50 to 100 of J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet—either white or any of the lovely pastels. Use Milward's steel crochet hook No. 10, 12 or 14.

To make braid, ch 12, 1 tr in 1st st of ch. * Ch 8, turn, skip 2 sts of last ch, 1 tr in next. Repeat from * for desired length, ch 1, turn. 1st row: * Work 1 half d c, 5 d c, 1 half d c in next sp, s c in next st. Repeat from * along braid. Repeat row on other side of braid.
Heading row. Attach thread to 3rd d c of 1st scallop on one side of lace, ch 10, 1 tr in 3rd d c of next scallop, * ch 5, 1 tr in 3rd d c of next scallop. Repeat from * across.
