   Choose your thread for hairpin lace according to the article which it is to trim. Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 30, white or colors, is adaptable to a variety of uses. Unusual effects are obtained with the lovely shaded and variegated colors. Clark's O.N.T. "Brilliant" is suggested when a high lustre is desired.

   For heavier effects, use J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen or Clark's O.N.T. Cronita.

   Make 2 strips of hairpin lace (one White and one any color desired) for length required. Hold strips side by side and join by inserting hook through first 2 White loops and drawing through first 2 loops of color. * Then draw through next 2 White loops and next 2 colored loops. Repeat from *. To fasten off, stitch last 2 loops firmly. Then attach White to 1st colored loop and make 1 s c in each loop across, and fasten off. Attach color to 1st White loop, * insert hook in each of the next 3 loops and make an s c, ch-3 picot, s c in the same 3 loops, ch 2. Repeat from * across.
