Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 10. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 6 or 7.
Edging: Ch 32. 1st row: D c in 9th ch from hook, d c in each of next 9 sts (this makes 3 blocks). Ch 2, skip 2 sts, d c in next (1 sp), another sp, 2 bls, 1 sp, ch 5, turn. 2nd row: 1 sp (made by turning ch), 2 bls, 1 sp, 5 bls, ch 2, tr tr in same st in which last d c was worked, ch 7, turn. 3rd row: D c at base of turning ch, 10 bls, 1 sp, ch 5, turn. Continue work, following block pattern. When edging is desired length, work along scallops as follows: 5 s c under sps at sides of scallops, 3 s c in sps across top, 2 s c in sp between scallops.
Insertion: Ch 44, turn. 1st row: D c in 9th ch from hook, 2 bls, 2 sps, 3 bls, 2 sps, 2 bls, 1 sp, ch 5, turn. Continue work, following block pattern.
