Use Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 30 or 50; or J. & P. Coats Tatting Cotton, size 70—and Milward's steel crochet hook No. 8, 9, 10 or 11.

1st row: * Ch 6, 2-dc cluster in 2nd st of ch from beginning (to make a 2-d c cluster, work 2 d c in same place, holding back the last loop of each d c on hook, then thread over hook and take off all loops on hook), repeat from * for nearly twice the required length. 2nd row: * Ch 6, s c between next 2nd and 3rd clusters, repeat from * to end of row, and also on opposite side of braid. Fasten off. 3rd row: Attach thread to beginning of last row, 6 s c over next ch-6, s c in s c, ch 7, 2-dc cluster in 3rd st of ch, 4-ch p, * ch 4, 1 sl st at base of cluster, ch 5, 2-dc cluster in 1st st of ch, 4-ch p, ch 4, 1 sl st at base of cluster, 1 sl st at base of 1st cluster, ch 4, 2-dc cluster in same place, 4-ch p, ch 4, 1 sl st at base of cluster, s c over stem of leaf, 1 sl st in side of last s c on braid, 6 s c over next ch, s c in s c, 3 s c over next ch, ch 4, sl st to p of cluster just made, ch 4, 4-ch p, ch 4, 4-ch p, ch 4, sl st to last s c made on braid, 3 more s c on ch, s c in s c, 6 s c over next ch-6, s c in s c, ch 7, 2-dc cluster in 3rd st of ch, sl st to adjacent p, repeat from * to end.
