Bath and Boudoir
Here are new ideas for trimming your "extra special" linens. J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, sizes 30 and 50, are popularly used. Edgings and insertions crocheted of Clark's O.N.T. "Brilliant" have a rich, lustrous effect. For delicate laciness, use J. & P. Coats Tatting Cotton, size 70, or fine sizes of Mercerized Crochet.
Bath towel edgings are attractively made of Pearl Cotton, size 5, Clark's O.N.T. Cronita and J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen—using Milward's steel crochet hook No. 5, 6 or 7.

To make foundation row, * ch 6, a 2 d c-cluster in 4th ch from hook. Repeat from * for desired length, allowing 14 clusters for each scallop and 2 extra to turn.
Scallop: 1st row: A 3 d c-cluster between 3rd and 4th clusters. * Ch 5, a 2 d c-cluster in 1st st of ch, a 3 d c-cluster between next 2 clusters of foundation row. Repeat from * 7 more times. ** Ch 5, turn. 1 d c between next 2 clusters, ch 12, 1 d c between next 2 clusters, ch 5, 1 s c between next 2 clusters, ch 1, turn. Under half of ch-5 loop, work 3 s c, ch 3, a ch-5 picot, ch 8, p, ch 4, 1 sl st in side of last s c, 3 s c under rest of ch-5, 1 s c in d c. Make another p-loop. Then (4 s c under ch-12 loop, a p-loop) 3 times. 3 s c under same loop, 1 s c in d c, a p-loop, 4 s c under half of next ch, a p-loop, 3 s c over rest of this ch, 1 sl st in top of last cluster. (Ch 5, a 2 d c-cluster in 1st st of ch, a 3 d c-cluster between next 2 clusters.) 2 times. Turn.
2nd row: * Ch 7, 1 s c in top of next p-loop. Repeat from * 6 more times. Ch 7, 1 sl st between next 2nd and 3rd clusters, ch 1, turn. 3rd row: * Under next ch-7 work 9 s c, 1 s c in next s c, ch 3, turn. Skip 1st s c, d c in each of next 2 s c, work d c's in each of next 2 s c's as a cluster, 1 d c in next d c, work d c's in each of next 2 s c's as a cluster, d c in each of next 2 s c's, ch 3, turn. Skip 1st d c, d c in each of next 2 d c's, work d c's in each of next 2 sts as a cluster, d c in next 2 sts, ch 3, turn. Skip 1st d c, d c in next d c, work d c in each of next 2 d c as a cluster, d c in next d c, ch 3, turn. Skip 1st d c, work d c's in each of next 2 sts as a cluster, ch 14, turn, 1 sl st between next 3rd and 4th clusters of heading row. Fasten off. Attach thread at last s c at beginning of point just made. Repeat from * 7 more times, joining the ch-14 of each point back in tip of previous point.
Then attach thread at base of last point at last cluster. ** Ch 5, a 2 d c-cluster in 1st st of ch, a 3 d c-cluster between next 2 clusters of foundation row. Repeat from ** 2 more times, ch 14, 1 sl st back in tip of last point. Fasten off. 4th row: Attach thread at 1st ch-14, and under it work 8 s c, ch-5 picot, 8 s c. Cover each ch-14 the same way. When foundation row is reached, * ch 5, a 2 d c-cluster in 1st st of ch, a 3 d c-cluster between next 2 clusters of foundation row. Repeat from * 8 more times. Repeat from ** of 1st row.
