Bath and Boudoir

   Here are new ideas for trimming your "extra special" linens. J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, sizes 30 and 50, are popularly used. Edgings and insertions crocheted of Clark's O.N.T. "Brilliant" have a rich, lustrous effect. For delicate laciness, use J. & P. Coats Tatting Cotton, size 70, or fine sizes of Mercerized Crochet.

   Bath towel edgings are attractively made of Pearl Cotton, size 5, Clark's O.N.T. Cronita and J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen—using Milward's steel crochet hook No. 5, 6 or 7.

1st row: Ch 3, a ch-6 picot, ch 1, p, ch 1, p. * Ch 8, p, ch 1, p, ch 1, p. Repeat from * for ½ more than desired length. Ch 3, turn, with p's of last row pointing up. 2nd row: * Ch 23, 1 s c between next 6th and 7th p's. Repeat from * to end of row, ch 3. 3rd row: Working around p-loops, make 4 d c under 1st ch of 1st loop, 1 d c in base of 1st p. * (2 d c under next ch, 1 d c in base of next p) twice. 5 d c under half of next ch, 3 d c in center st of same ch, working through back loop only, 5 d c under last half of ch. (1 d c in base of next p, 2 d c under next ch) twice. 1 d c in base of next p, 2 d c under next ch, 3 more d c under same ch, 1 under next, leaving 1 loop of each on hook (5 loops on hook). Thread over and draw through 3 loops. (1 more d c under same ch, leaving 1 loop of it on hook, thread over and draw through 3 loops) twice. 2 d c under rest of same ch, 1 d c in next p-base. Repeat from * to end of row. Fasten off.

4th row: Attach thread at 2nd d c at beginning of last row, ch 5, skip 2 d c, 1 d c in next. * (Ch 2, skip 2 d c, 1 d c in next) 4 times (ch 3, 1 d c in next d c) twice (ch 2, skip 2 d c, 1 d c in next) 4 times (skip 2 d c, 1 d c in next) twice. Repeat from * to end of row. Fasten off. 5th row: Attach thread at center of ch-5 at beginning of last row, ch 3. (2 d c under ch, 1 d c in next d c) 3 times, a ch-6 p. * (2 d c under next ch, 1 d c in next d c, a ch-6 p) twice, 3 d c under next ch, 3 d c in next d c, 3 d c under next ch, 1 d c in next d c, p. (2 d c under next ch, 1 d c in next d c, p) twice. 2 d c under next ch, 1 d c in next d c. Make 5 d c as follows: 2 d c under next ch, 1 d c in center d c of next 3 d c, leaving 1 loop of each on hook, thread over and draw through 3 loops, 1 d c in next ch-2, leaving 1 loop of it on hook, thread over and draw through 2 loops, 1 more d c in same ch-2, leaving 1 loop of it on hook, thread over and draw through remaining 3 loops on hook, 1 d c in next d c, 2 d c under next ch-2, 1 d c in next d c, a ch-6 p. Repeat from * to end of row. Fasten off.

Heading row: Attach thread at beginning of ch-23's at top. Ch 5, * skip 2 sts, d c in next, ch 2. Repeat from * across.
