Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

With White, ch 26, 1 d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each remaining ch.
2nd Row—Ch 4, turn and work 3 d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each d c working 3 d c in end st.
Repeat the 2nd row twice.
5th and 6th Rows—Ch 3, turn, 1 d c in each d c increasing 1 d c at beginning and end of row, ch 3, turn.
Next 5 Rows—1 d c in each d c increasing 1 d c at beginning of each row.
12th Row—Decrease 1 d c at beginning and end of row.
Next 5 Rows—Decrease 1 d c at end of each row.
Next Row—Increase 1 d c each end of row.
Next Row—Increase 2 sts at each end of row.
Next 2 Rows—Decrease 2 sts at beginning and end of each row.
Next Row—Increase 1 d c at each end of row.
Next 3 Rows—Increase 1 d c at the beginning of each row.
Next 3 Rows—Work even.
Next Row—Decrease 1 d c at each end of row.
Next Row—Ch 4, d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each d c working 3 d c in last st.
Next 2 Rows—Increase 1 d c at beginning and end of each row.

With Red, crochet the 2 sections together with a row of s c, working 1 s c in each s c across lower edge and working 2 s c in each d c row all around and 2 s c in every other st across top.
With Black "STAR" Six Strand Embroidery Cotton, embroider the face as illustrated using an outline stitch working the eyes about 2¼ inches from top.
The embroidery is all done in Black except the nose and mouth which is done in Red. The chin is 4 inches from top of head.
The tie is 1¼ inches long and ¾ inch wide. The legs are 2 inches long.
RING. With Red, wrap around 1 finger 3 times, remove from finger and work 28 s c over ring. Sew to top of potholder.
