Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

FRONT SECTION. With Blue, ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 3, (counts as 1 d c) and work 11 d c in ring, join.
2nd Row—Ch 3, 4 d c in same space, slip loop off hook, insert in top of ch and pull loop through, ch 1 to tighten, * ch 1, 5 d c in next d c, slip loop off hook, insert in 1st d c, pull loop through, ch 1, (popcorn st) repeat from * all around, ch 1, join in top of 1st popcorn st.
3rd Row—With White, sl st into loop, ch 3, 3 d c in same loop, * 4 d c in next loop, repeat from * all around, join.
4th Row—With Blue, work a popcorn st in every other d c with ch 1 between each popcorn st.
5th Row—With White, work 3 d c in each loop.
6th Row—With Blue, same as 4th row.
7th Row—Same as 5th row.
In the following rows the thread is carried underneath. When changing color complete the last half of st with the next color to be used.
8th Row—With White, ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 5 d c, with Blue, popcorn st in next d c, * ch 1, skip 1 d c, popcorn st in next d c, repeat from * 4 times, ** with White, skip 1 d c, 1 d c in each of the next 6 d c, with Blue, popcorn st in next d c, * ch 1, skip 1 d c, popcorn st in next d c, repeat from * 4 times, then repeat from ** all around, join. 9th Row—With White, ** 1 d c in each d c and 2 d c in next popcorn st, with Blue, * popcorn st in next loop, ch 1, repeat from * 4 times, with White, 2 d c in next popcorn st, then repeat from ** all around.
10th Row—Same as 9th row but having 4 popcorn sts in Blue in each Blue section and 14 d c in White between each Blue section.
11th Row—Work in same manner decreasing 1 popcorn st in each Blue section and increasing 4 d c in each White section.
12th and 13th Rows—Same as last row decreasing 1 popcorn st in each Blue section, but increasing 6 d c in each White section, break Blue thread.
14th Row—With White, 1 d c in each d c and 3 d c in each popcorn st, break thread.
BACK SECTION. Work 1st 3 rows same as front section. The remainder of back is worked in White.
4th Row—1 d c in each d c, join.
5th Row—1 d c in each d c increasing 1 d c in every 3rd st.
6th Row—1 d c in each d c.
7th Row—Same as 5th row.
8th Row—Increase 1 d c in every 6th d c.
9th and 10th Rows—Increase 1 d c in every 8th d c.
11th Row—Increase in every 10th d c.
12th Row—Increase in every 4th d c.
13th Row—Same as 9th row.
14th Row—Increase in every 25th d c, break thread.
With Blue crochet the 2 sections together as follows: * 1 s c in each of the next 6 d c, ch 2, popcorn st in next d c, ch 2, repeat from * all around.
With Blue, cover a bone ring with s c and attach to potholder as illustrated.
