Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

FRONT SECTION. With Green, ch 23 and work 22 s c on ch, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row—Insert needle in next s c, ** thread over and pull loop up the length of a d c, * thread over, insert in same space and pull loop up the same length, repeat from * 3 times, leaving all loops on needle, skip 2 s c, insert hook in next s c, and pull loop through, thread over and pull through the one loop just made, (ch st) thread over and pull through all loops on needle at one time, ch 1 to tighten, (a puff st) insert needle in the ch 1 just made and pull loop through, insert hook in the loop of previous ch st and pull loop through, thread over and pull through all 3 loops on needle, (a complete pattern) insert needle in same space as last ch st, repeat from ** across row ending with a complete pattern (7 complete patterns) ch 3, turn.
3rd Row—Insert needle in ch 1 in top of puff st and pull loop up the length of a d c, * thread over, insert in same space and pull loop up the same length, repeat from * 3 times leaving all loops on needle, insert needle in the ch 1 at top of next puff st and pull loop through, thread over and pull through one loop, thread over and pull through all loops on needle, ch 1 to tighten, insert needle in ch 1 just made and pull loop through, insert in loop of previous ch st, pull through, thread over and pull through 3 loops, ** insert needle in same space as last ch st, pull loop up the length of a d c, * thread over needle, insert in same space and pull loop up the same length, repeat from * 3 times, insert needle in top of next puff st, pull loop through, thread over and pull through one loop, thread over and pull through all loops on needle, ch 1 to tighten, insert needle in ch 1 just made and pull through, insert needle in loop of previous ch st, pull through, thread over and pull through 3 loops on needle, repeat from ** across row working last half of pattern in end ch, ch 3, turn and repeat the 3rd row 6 times, ch 1, turn and work 3 s c in each puff st and 1 s c in end ch, break thread. With White and starting in corner, work 1 s c, ch 2, 1 s c in each corner st, and 20 s c on each side, join. Sl st to loop, ch 3, d c in same space, ch 2, 2 d c in same space, 1 d c in each d c, * 2 d c, ch 2, 2 d c in corner loop, 1 d c in each d c, repeat from * twice, join. Repeat the last row 5 times, break thread.
Work another section in same manner.
With Green, crochet the 2 sections together starting in 2nd st before corner, ch 3, * thread over needle, insert in same st and pull loop up the length of a d c, repeat from * twice, thread over and pull through all loops on needle, ch 1, (a puff st) s c in corner loop, ch 2, s c over corner loop of previous row and working towards the center, * ch 2, s c over next loop of same corner of row below, repeat from * to center block, then ch 2 and work back in same manner working an s c over each row with ch 2 between each s c to top of work, ch 3, puff st in same space, * skip 3 d c, s c in next d c , ch 3, puff st in same space, repeat from * all around working all corners same as first corner, break thread.
LOOP. Wrap Green thread around finger 4 times, remove from finger and work 25 s c over loop. Sew to potholder as illustrated.
