Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Pearl Cotton, size 5. 1 ball.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 7.

To begin, make a chain slightly longer than desired length. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in each of next 6 ch, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in each of next 8 ch. Repeat from * across, turn. 2nd row: Sl st across to 3rd d c, ch 3 (to count as d c), d c in each of next 3 d c, * ch 4, skip 2 d c, s c in next sp, s c in next d c, s c in next sp, ch 4, skip 2 d c, d c in each of next 4 d c. Repeat from * across, turn. 3rd row: Sl st in 1st 2 d c, ch 3, d c in next d c, * ch 6, skip 1 d c, s c in next s c, ch 5, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, ch 6, skip 1 d c, d c in each of next 2 d c. Repeat from * across, turn. 4th row: Sl st between 2 d c of previous row, ch 6, * in ch-5 loop make four 3-tr clusters with ch-3 between each cluster (to make a 3-tr cluster, make 3 tr in ch-5 loop, holding back the last loop of each tr on hook; then thread over hook and take off 2 loops at a time until all loops are worked off); ch 3, d c between next 2 d c, ch 3. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn. 5th row: * Skip next loop, s c in next loop (between clusters), ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, skip next loop, s c in following d c, ch 5. Repeat from * across. Fasten and break off.
