MATERIALS: J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 5, 14 balls of White and 4 balls of Red ... Steel Crochet Hook No. 6 ... 1½ yards of ribbon.

WAISTBAND ... With White, make a chain 15 inches long. 1st row: Dc in 7th ch from hook, * skip 3 ch, in next ch make dc, ch 3 and dc. Re­peat from * across, until piece meas­ures 12 inches long. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Make 4 sc in each sp across. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Skip 1st sc, dc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 4th row: Sc in each dc across and in top st of turning chain. Break off. 5th row: Attach Red at be­ginning of last row (right side), sc in 1st sc, * working over next sc make sc in the dc below (long sc), sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Break off. Work along sps on other side of start­ing chain to correspond. Break off.

SKIRT ... 1st row: Attach White to 1st sc of last row, ch 6, dc in same place, * skip 1 st, in next st make dc, ch 3 and dc. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: * Sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 5. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: * Sc in next loop, ch 5. Repeat from * across. Ch 4, turn. 4th row: * In next ch-5 loop make dc, ch 3 and dc. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn. Repeat 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows until Skirt measures 15 inches, ending with the 4th row.

BORDER ... 1st to 4th rows incl: Repeat 2nd to 5th rows incl of Waist­band, being sure that right side of 4th row is on right side of work. Break off. 5th row: With wrong side of last row facing, attach White to first st, ch 6, dc in same place, * skip 3 sts, in next st make dc, ch 3 and dc. Re­peat from * across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat the last 5 rows two more times. Repeat the first 4 rows once more. Break off.

POCKET (Make 2) ... With White, make a chain 3½ inches long and work exactly as for Waistband. Then work first 4 rows of Skirt. To complete Pocket, work Border same as for Skirt. Break off.

Cut ribbon in half and sew a piece at each end of Waistband. Sew Pockets in place, shirring lower ends and rounding off corners.
