MATERIALS: J. & P. Coats Tat­ting Cotton, Size 70, 11 balls ... Steel Crochet Hook No. 14 ... A dickey.

INSERTION ... Ch 6. 1st row: In 6th ch from hook make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: In ch-2 sp make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc. Ch 5, turn. Repeat the 2nd row until piece measures long enough to go all around outer edges of dickey. Do not break off, but work along one long edge of insertion as follows:

EDGING ... 1st row: * Ch 6, sc in next ch-5 loop. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: 7 sc in each sp across. Turn. 3rd row: * Ch 5, skip 2 sc. sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 7, turn. 4th row: * Sc in next loop, ch 6. Repeat from * across. Ch 9, turn. 5th row: * Sc in next loop, ch 7. Repeat from * across. Ch 7, turn. 6th row: * In next loop make tr, ch 5 and tr; ch 5, sc in next loop, ch 5. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 5, sc in next loop. Ch 1, turn. 7th row: Sc in sc, * ch 5, skip ch-5, in ch-5 sp between tr's make (cluster, ch 5) 3 times and cluster—to make a cluster, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr make 3 tr in same place, thread over and draw through all loops on hook—ch 5, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. 8th row: Sc in sc, * ch 5, skip ch-5, cluster in next sp (between clusters), ch 5, in next sp (between clusters) make (cluster, ch 5) twice and cluster; ch 5, cluster in next sp, ch 5, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 9th row: Sc in sc, ch 5, ** skip next ch-5, * in next sp (between clusters) make clus­ter, ch 7, sc in 5th ch from hook (p made), ch 2 and cluster; ch 7. sc in 5th ch from hook (another p made), ch 2. Repeat from * 2 more times; in next sp make cluster, ch 2, p, ch 2 and cluster; 2 tr in next sc. Repeat from ** across, ending with ch 5, sc in last sc. Break off.

Sew free loops of insertion to edges of dickey.
