Round and Square Pot Holders Pattern #4028

MATERIALS: J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 5, 3 balls of Ecru ... Steel Cro­chet Hook No. 6 ... Scraps of green and red felt ... 2 bone rings.

ROUND POT HOLDER  ... Start­ing at center, ch 6. Join to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 1, 15 sc in ring. Sl+ st in 1st sc. 2nd rnd: Ch 3, * 2 dc in each of next 2 sc (2 dc increased), dc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join.

3rd rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st around, increasing 10 sc evenly apart. 4th rnd: Ch 3, dc in each st around, increasing 10 dc evenly apart. Repeat the 3rd and 4th rnds alternately until piece meas­ures 6½ inches in diameter, ending with an sc rnd. Break off.

SQUARE POTHOLDER ... Make a chain about 8 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures 6½ inches. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip 1st sc, dc in next sc, dc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in each dc across and in top st of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows alter­nately until piece is square, ending with an sc row. Break off.

Line and trim with felt as desired. Sew on bone rings.
