Materials:
Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet Size 30, White, 3 balls.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 7.
Jabot: Ch 118. 1st row: 1 d c in 4th ch from hook, 1 d c in each ch (115 d c across), ch 1, turn. 2nd row: 1 s c in each d c across, ch 3, turn. Work 3 more rows of d c with 1 row of s c between, and ending with an s c row. 9th row: * 1 d c in each of next 10 s c, 8 d c in next s c, drop st from hook and insert hook back in the first d c in the group of 8, draw loop through (popcorn stitch—pc st). Repeat from * across, making 10 pc st, ch 1, turn. 10th row: 1 s c in each d c and pc st, ch 3, turn. Work 4 rows of d c with 1 row of s c between, ending with d c row, ch 7, turn.
Narrow lace: Skip 1st d c, 1 s c in next, * ch 7, skip next d c, s c in next. Repeat from * across. This forms a loop for each ch-7. Make 2 loops at corner in same st, then 1 loop every d c row, 2 loops at other corner, and loops every other d c up long side, ch 7, turn. 2nd row: S c into 1st loop, * ch 7, s c in next. Repeat all around to other end. Repeat 2nd row once, ch 7, turn.
Edging: S c in 1st loop, * ch 7, s c in next, ch 7, turn, and s c in next s c, ch 7, turn, s c in next s c (this forms a scallop of 3 ch), ch 5, s c in next loop. Repeat from * around and break off.
Wider lace: Ch 246. 1st row: Skip 9 sts from hook, 1 s c in next, * ch 7, skip 1 ch, 1 s c in next. Repeat from * across (118 loops), ch 7, turn. 2nd row: Same as 2nd row of narrow lace. 3rd row: Same as 2nd row. 4th row: 1 s c in 1st loop, * ch 7, 1 s c in next loop, 1 s c in next loop, ch 7, 1 s c in next loop, Repeat from * across, ch 7, turn. 5th row: 1 s c in 1st loop, * ch 7, 1 s c in next loop, ch 7, 1 s c between the 2 s c of row below, ch 7, 1 s c in next loop. Repeat from * across, ch 7, turn. 6th row: Repeat 2nd row. 7th row: 1 s c in 1st loop, 1 s c in next, * 2 loops, 1 s c in next. Repeat from * across, ch 7, turn. Repeat 5th and 6th rows, then 7th and 5th rows. Finish with edging as for narrow lace. Sew the wide lace around the jabot under the narrow lace.
Round Collar: Ch 250. 1st row: 1 d c in 4th ch from hook, 1 d c in each ch across, ch 1, turn. 2nd row: 1 s c in each d c, ch 3, turn. 3rd row: * 1 d c in each of next 20 s c, make a decrease of 1 d c by working the next d c leaving the last 2 loops on hook, then work next d c, and draw through all 3 loops at same time. This prevents a hole in work. Repeat from * across, ch 1, turn. 4th row: 1 s c in each d c, ch 3, turn. 5th row: D c over s c with 15 d c between decreases, ch 1, turn. 6th row: Same as 4th row. 7th row: D c over s c with 10 d c between decreases, ch 1, turn. 8th row: Same as 4th row. 9th row: D c over s c with 5 d c between decreases, ch 1, turn. Repeat 8th, 9th and 8th rows once. Work 1 row of d c evenly, then 1 row of s c all around entire piece. Baste the jabot center to center with the collar, spreading wide lace and catching both together with 1 row of s c around neck edge of collar. Make 3 loops on one end of collar and sew 3 buttons on other end.
