Irish Mesh Bow Pattern #2001

Materials:
Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, size 70, White, 1 ball.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 11.

Under bow: Ch 72, turn. 1st row: Sl st in 7th ch from hook, * ch 7, skip 4 sts, sl st in next. Repeat from * along ch. Ch 7, turn. 2nd rows Sl st in center of ch-7, s c in next ch-7 loop, * ch 5, s c in same place (for a picot), ch 7, s c in next loop. Repeat from * across. Ch 7, turn.

3rd to 18th row incl: Same as 2nd. Begin each row with a loose ch 7, to keep edges straight.

Border: ** Make a row of ch-7's without the picots, turn. 2nd row: * 9 s c under next loop, ch 5, repeat from * across. Repeat from ** 2 more times, joining the ch-7 loops with an s c in the ch-5's of previous row. Fasten off.

Attach thread at foundation ch and work other side to correspond.

Top row: Work same as under bow, but make 13 rows of mesh instead of 18. Then add border.

For center strip, ch 25. 1st row: Tr in 5th ch from hook and tr in each st of ch. At end st work 5 trs and continue down other side of ch with tr in each st and 5 trs in other end, join with sl st, ch 4, and tr in each tr around. Gather the double bow and fasten this strip in place with needle and thread.
