Potholder Pattern #9444

MATERIALS: Clark's O.N.T. Cotton Rug Yarn, 1 ball … Bone Crochet Hook No. 8 ... A bone ring.

Starting at tip, ch 7. 1st row: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook (an inc), sc in next 5 ch, 2 sc in next ch (another inc). Ch 1, turn. Hereafter pick up only back loop of each sc. 2nd and 3rd rows: Sc in each sc, increasing 1 sc at both ends of each row. Now work straight until piece measures 7½ inches. Break off. Make another piece same as this.

THUMB ... 1st row: Ch 2, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 1, turn. Hereafter pick up only back loop of each sc. 2nd row: 2 sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn. 3rd, 4th and 5th rows: Sc in each sc across, increasing 1 sc at both ends of each row. Ch 1, turn (10 sc on 5th row). Sc in each sc until piece measures 4½ inches. Break off.
     Double Thumb piece lengthwise and sew straight edges together. Place palm and back of Mitten together. Starting at wrist, sew side edges together for 1 inch (on one side of Mitten). Place Thumb piece in position and sew in place. Join remaining edges of Mitten with sc. Ch 1, turn and make sc in each sc, working over both loops of each sc. Break off. Sew on bone ring.
