MATERIALS: J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, 1 ball each of Cream and Skipper Blue … Steel Crochet Hook No. 5 ... 2 bone rings … These materials will make a set of 2 pot holders.

Use thread double throughout.

Starting with Cream, make a chain to measure 6½ inches. 1st row: 4 dc in 4th ch from hook (shell), * skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, 4 dc in same place where sc was made (another shell). Repeat from * across, ending with an sc. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: 4 dc in 1st sc, * sc under ch-3 of next shell, ch 3, 3 dc under same ch-3 where last sc was made, dc in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with sc under last turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece is square, ending with ch 3, turn. Do not break off but * work 4 dc in next sc, sc under next ch-3. Repeat from * across, ending with sc under turning chain. Now work in rnds as follows: 1st rnd: Sc closely around. Sl st in 1st sc. Break off. 2nd rnd: With double strand of Blue, sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in each corner sc. Join. 3rd rnd: * Sc in next sc, ch 3, 4 dc in same place as last sc was made, skip 2 sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Sew on bone ring. Make another pot holder same as this, reversing colors.
