Crocheted Square with Corner Triangles Pattern

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. (10 balls) or J. & P. Coats (9 balls) Mercerized Crochet, Size 20, White, Ecru, or Linen. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 8.

Gauge: 3 sps x 3 sps make 1 inch square.

To begin, ch 441, turn. 1 tr in 6th ch from hook, tr in each ch to end. 2nd row: Turn, ch 4 (to count as tr), tr in each tr to end. 3rd row: Turn, ch 4 (to count as tr), 1 tr in each of next 8 tr, * ch 3, skip 3 tr, tr in next. Repeat from * across row, making 8 tr at end (not counting tr with which last sp was closed). 105 sps in row and 16 tr. From now on follow chart. Each sp is ch 3, 1 tr. Each bl is 4 tr (not counting the tr which completed the last sp). Each row begins with ch 4, to count as the 1st tr.

The chart shows one-fourth of design. To make sec­ond half of each row, reverse the first half. The top row of the chart is the center row. After making this, reverse the design, working back from the row before the center row to the 1st row.
