When completed, runner measures about 14 x 35 inches.

Ch 134, turn. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook, 1 d c in each st of foundation ch. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: D c in each of 1st 3 d c, * ch 5, skip 4 d c, d c in next, ch 3, skip 2 d c, sl st in next, ch 3, skip 2 d c, d c in next, repeat from * 10 more times, ch 5, skip 4 d c, d c in each of next 3 d c, ch 3 turn. 3rd row: D c in each of next 3 d c, * ch 3, sl st in center st under ch-5 loop, d c in d c, 2 d c under each ch-3 loop of lacet, d c in d c, repeat from * 9 more times, then make 5 d c under ch-5 loop, d c in d c, ch 5, of ch-5, ch 3, d c in d c, ch 5, d c in d c, repeat from * 10 more times, thus making lacet over open sps across row. Then ch 3, sl st in center st of ch-5, ch 3, d c in each of next 3 d c, ch 3, turn. 4th row: D c in each of 3 d c, ch 5, d c in next d c, * 5 d c, skip lacet and make d c in each of last 3 d c, ch 3, turn.

5th row: D c in each of 1st 3 d c, ch 3, sl st in center st of ch-5, ch 3, d c in each of next 3 d c, * ch 1, skip 1 d c, d c in next, repeat from * 55 more times, thus making a row of sps, d c in each of last 3 d c, ch 5, skip lacet, d c in each of last 3 d c, ch 3, turn. 6th row: D c in each of 3 d c, ch 5, skip lacet, d c in each of 3 d c, then make sp over sp, d c over d c, and at end of row, ch 5 over lacet, d c in each of last 3 d c. Ch 3, turn. 7th to 14th rows incl: Same as 6th row.  15th row: D c group on edge, 1 lacet, d c group, 10 sps, d c in d c and d c in sp for 36 sps, then 10 sps, d c group, 1 lacet, d c group, ch 3, turn.

16th row: D c group, ch 5 under lacet, d c group, 10 sps, d c group, * ch 5, skip 4 d c, d c in next, ch 3, skip 2 d c, sl st in next, repeat from * 5 more times, d c in each of next 3 d c, 10 sps, d c group, ch 5 over lacet, d c in each of last 3 d c, ch 3, turn. 17th row: Same as 16th, except in center section, al­ternate the lacets over the ch-5 loops, and the ch-5 loops over the lacets, as in 2nd and 3rd rows. 18th to 124th rows incl: Alternate 16th and 17th rows. 125th row: Same as 15th row. Continue work, mak­ing this end of runner to correspond to other end.
