Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).

A round foam rubber pillow, 17½ inches in diameter.

GAUGE: 3 star sts make 1 inch; 4 rnds make 1 inch.

SIDE (Make 2) … Starting at center, ch 2. 1st rnd: 10 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around (20 sc). Join. 3rd rnd: Ch 3, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, draw loop through, insert hook in next ch and draw loop through, (insert hook in next sc and draw loop through) twice; thread
over and draw through 5 loops on hook, ch 1 to fasten (a star st made), * draw up a loop in fasten­ing chain, draw up a loop in last loop of previous star st and in each of next 2 sc, thread over and draw through 5 loops on hook, ch 1 (another star st). Re­peat from * around, omit ch 1 after last star st and sl st in top of first star st (10 star sts). 4th rnd: Ch 1, 4 sc in fastening ch of each star st around. Join. 5th rnd: Repeat 3rd rnd (20 star sts). 6th rnd: Ch 1, * 3 sc in fastening chain of each star st around. Join. 7th rnd: Repeat 3rd rnd (30 star sts). 8th rnd: 2 sc in each star st around, increasing 20 sc evenly around—to inc 1 sc, make 3 sc in 1 star st. Join. Repeat last 2 rnds until piece measures 17½ inches in diameter, ending with a star st rnd. Break off.

With wrong sides facing and working through both thicknesses, make 2 sc in each fastening chain to within 11 inches from the beginning. Insert pillow and complete rnd. Join and break off.
