Bedspread Pattern
Suggested pattern for Bedspreads
If you prefer, make your bedspread in this pattern, following Bedspread S-569 pattern for approximate amounts of thread, and working Border as for Bedspread S-569 pattern.
Starting at bottom make a chain slightly longer than length desired. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch across until row is length desired, having a number of dc divisible by 8 and 3 more at end of row. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first dc, * dc in next 2 dc, ch 2, holding back on hook the last loop of each st, make tr in same place as last dc was made, skip next 2 dc, dc in next dc, skip next 2 dc, tr in next dc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (joint st made), ch 2, dc in same place as last tr was made. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Skip first dc, * dc in next dc, holding back on hook the last loop of each st make dc in next dc, tr in center of next joint st, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (another joint st made), ch 2, dc in same place as last tr was made, ch 2, holding back on hook the last loop of each st, tr in same place, dc in next dc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Skip first dc, * dc in next dc, dc in next joint st, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next joint st. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Repeat 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows until piece measures 120 inches, ending with the 4th row. Break off.
