Approximate amounts of J. & P. Coats and Clark's O.N.T. threads necessary for one place mat, 12 x 18 inches.

"Knit-Cro-Sheen" (worked with 2 strands)—5 balls—Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero)
"Knit-Cro-Sheen" (worked with 2 colors)—2 balls of each color—Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7
"Knit-Cro-Sheen" Metallic, Art. A.64—4 balls—Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7
"Speed-Cro-Sheen," Art. C.44—4 balls—Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero)

Starting at bottom with No. 1 White, make a chain 24 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch 2, skip next 2 ch, in next ch make dc, ch 2 and dc; ch 2, skip next 2 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across until row measures 17 inches, ending with sc. Cut off remaining chain. Drop White. 2nd row: Attach No. M.46-A Mid Rose to the first sc at beginning of row, ch 3, make 2 dc in same sc, * skip next sp, sc in next sp, 5 dc in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with 3 dc in last sc. Drop Mid Rose, pick up White. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Sc in first dc, * ch 2, in next sc make dc, ch 2 and dc; ch 2, sc in center dc of next 5-dc group. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in top of ch-3. 4th row: Pick up Mid Rose at beginning of previous row, sl st in first sc, work as for 2nd row. Repeat 3rd and 4th rows alter­nately until piece measures 11 inches, ending with 3rd row. Break off.
