Doily measures approximately 11½ inches in diameter.

Wind a piece of thread 10 times tightly around fore­finger to form a ring. 1st rnd: Make 24 sc in ring. Join to first sc. 2nd rnd: * In next sc make sc, ch 10 and sc; sc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * around (8 loops). 3rd rnd: Sl st in sc at base of next loop. * 15 sc in loop, sl st in same place as last sl st, sl st in next 3 sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. 4th rnd: Attach thread to center sc of any loop, sc in same sc, * ch 9, sc in center sc of next loop. Repeat from * around. Join. 5th rnd: 12 sc in each loop around. Join. 6th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 1, half dc in first sc (48 loops). 7th to 10th rnds incl: Sc in loop just formed, * ch 3, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 1, half dc in first sc. At end of 10th rnd, ch 3, sl st in first sc. 11th rnd:3 sc in each loop around. Join. 12th rnd: Working in back loop only, in first sc make sc, ch 10 and sc; * sc in next 5 sc, in next sc make sc, ch 10 and sc. Repeat from * around. Join (24 loops). 13th rnd: Sl st in sc at base of next loop, * 15 sc in loop, sl st in same place as last sl st, sl st in back loop of next 6 sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. 14th rnd: Attach thread to center sc of any loop, sc in same sc, * ch 9, sc in center sc of next loop. Repeat from * around. Join. 15th rnd: 10 sc in each sp around. Join. 16th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3, skip next 2 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 1, half dc in first sc (80 loops). 17th rnd: Sc in loop just formed, * ch 4, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, half dc in first sc. 18th, 19th and 20th rnds: Sc in loop just formed, * ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2, dc in first sc. 21st rnd: Sc in loop just formed, * ch 3, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join. 22nd rnd: 4 sc in each loop around. Join. 23rd rnd: Sl st in back loop of each sc around. Join and break off. Press lightly.
