COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. "SPEED-CRO-SHEEN" MERCERIZED COTTON, Art. C.44: 5 balls of No. 49-A Killarney and 1 ball of No. 123-A Flamingo, and
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN" METALLIC, Art. A.64: 2 balls each of No. M.61-D Nu-Ecru and No. M.10-A Canary Yellow.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).
A lamp shade, 14 inches in diameter across top; 10 inches in diameter across bottom and 10 inches in depth.
GAUGE: 3 sc make 1 inch; 4 rows make 1 inch.
1st rnd: Ch 1, working over Yellow chain make sc in same place as sl st, * ch 1, skip next ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 1. Join to first sc. Drop Killarney. With single strand of Flamingo make a chain long enough to fit around shade just above last rnd made (about inch). Join to form ring. Break off. Pick up Killarney. 2nd rnd: Working over chain just made, ch 1, * sc in next sp, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join to first sc. Always using double strand of Metallic for metallic stripes, single strand of "Speed-Cro-Sheen" for "Speed-Cro-Sheen" stripes, continue to work in pattern over chains in color pattern as follows: Nu-Ecru, Flamingo. Yellow, Nu-Ecru. Flamingo and Nu-Ecru. These 8 rnds establish color pattern for chains. Work in pattern until piece fits shade, ending with a Yellow chain. Break off.
