Curtain-Towel Edging Pattern
For Bathroom Curtain:
Use J. & P. COATS BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. A. 104, Size 30: 6 balls of White and Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 10.
For Towel Edgings:
Use J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 1 ball of No. 1 White and Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.
A hairpin lace staple, ½ inch wide ... 2 yellow bath towels.
Materials are sufficient for a pair of organdy ruffled curtains, 36 inches wide, 54 inches long (not including ruffles).
Make a strip of hairpin lace slightly longer than side and bottom ruffle, see pattern book page. Break off. Make another strip the same way, having the same number of loops on each strip.
To Join Strips: Keeping the twist in all loops, insert hook in first loop on First Strip, draw first loop on Second Strip through loop on hook, * draw next loop on First Strip through loop on hook, draw next loop on Second Strip through loop on hook. Repeat from * across. Fasten last loop securely.
HEADING … Keeping all loops straight, attach thread to first loop on opposite side of First Strip, sc in same place, * ch 1, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across. Break off.
SCALLOPED EDGE … Still keeping all loops straight, attach thread to first loop on opposite side of Second Strip, sc in same place, * ch 5, sc in 3rd ch from hook (picot made), ch 2, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across. Break off.
Sew Edging to curtain. Make another piece to fit across top ruffle and a piece for tie back. Sew in place. Complete other curtain the same way. Starch Edging lightly and press.
Make Edgings for Towels the same way.
