Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 6.
A parchment lamp shade, 14 inches in diameter across top; 16 inches in diameter across bottom; 12 inches in depth.
Use double strand throughout.
GAUGE: 5 half dc make 1 inch; 3 rows make 1 inch.
Starting at lower edge with Skipper Blue, make a chain long enough to fit around shade. Join with sl st, being careful not to twist. 1st rnd: Ch 2, half dc in same place as sl st and in each ch around. Drop Skipper Blue, insert hook in first half dc, draw a loop of Robinette through half dc and loop on hook, thus changing color (always change color in this manner—wrong side of work is right side of lamp shade). 2nd rnd: Ch 2, half dc in first half dc and in each half dc around. Change color. 3rd rnd: Work as for 2nd rnd. decreasing 2 half dc on rnd—to dec 1 half dc, work off 2 half dc as 1 half dc. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rnds alternately until piece is deep enough to fit lamp shade, ending with Skipper Blue stripe. Break off Robinette. Next rnd: Sc in first half dc and in each half dc around. Join and break off.
