Fringe Pattern
Suggested pattern for Fringes
Use a fringe to decorate your cottage curtains or, a very new idea, as a valance one, two or three rows deep, at the top of your draperies. If you prefer, make your fringe in this pattern, following Fringe S-570 pattern for approximate amounts of thread.
Make a chain slightly longer than length desired. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * draw loop on hook out to measure ¼ inch, thread over and draw loop through, insert hook between single and double loops and draw a loop through, thread over and draw through 2 loops on hook (knot st made), make another knot st, skip 4 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across until piece is length desired. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Make a knot st, * sc under double loop of next knot st to the right of the knot, sc under double loop of next knot st, to the left of same knot, make 2 knot sts. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 3rd and 4th rows: Make a knot st, * sc under double loop of each of next 2 knot sts to the right and left of same knot, make 2 knot sts. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last knot st, sc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 5th row: Work as for 3rd row, ending with sc under double loop of last knot st, then make a knot st, dc in top of turning chain. Break off. Make a fringe in center of each loop same as for Fringe S-570 pattern.
