Materials: Clark's O. N. T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, Size 10, in White, Ecru, Linen, or any one of the new interesting colors now available in this size. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 6, 7, or 8. One ball will make about ½ yd. of insertion.

To begin, ch 15, and join with sl st to form ring. Ch 3, turn. 1st row: 16 d c in ring, ch 3 turn. 2nd row: 1 d c in each of the next 8 d c of previous row, * ch 1, 1 d c in next d c, and repeat from * 7 more times. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: 1 d c under 1st ch-1 (a small ring formed), ch 3, 4 d c in this ring, then 1 s c under next ch-1, * ch 3, 1 d c under next ch-1 (a small loop formed), ch 3, 4 d c in this loop, 1 s c under next ch-1, and repeat from * 2 more times (4 fans formed), then ch 9, skip 8-dc group, and 1 s c in 3rd st of ch-3 first made. Ch 3, turn. Repeat pattern from beginning of 1st row, for as many times as necessary. TO MAKE CORNER: after having completed 4 small fans on last fan, 1 s c in each of next 8 d c, 1 s c in point of 1st small fan, ch 9 (do not turn), skip next fan, 1 s c in point of next fan, ch 3, turn, and follow pattern from beginning of 1st row.
