Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, Size 20, White, Ecru, or Linen. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 7, 8 or 9. 1 ball of thread makes about 14 inches of edging.

To begin, ch 24. 1st row: D c in 9th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next. Repeat from * 4 times more. Ch 5, turn (6 sps in all). 2nd to 6th rows incl: Make sp over sp and d c over d c. This completes a square. 7th row: 3 s c in corner sp, and in each of next 2 sps, * ch 10, sl st in 10th ch from hook to form ring, ch 1, turn ring to left side, s c in ring, ch 5 (for a p), 2 s c in ring, ch 5, 2 s c in ring, ch 5, 2 s c in ring, ch 5, 2 s c in ring, ch 5, s c in ring (5 p made), 3 s c in each of next 2 sps, 6 s c in corner sp, 3 s c in each of next 2 sps. Repeat from *. Join with sl st to 1st s c made. 8th row: * Ch 8, s c in 2nd p, ch 7, s c in 4th p, ch 8, s c in corner s c. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st in 1st ch of ch-8 first made. 9th row: * 4 s c in next ch loop, ch 5, s c in loop, ch 5, s c in loop, ch 5, 4 s c in loop. Repeat from * 8 times more. In next ch loop, make 4 s c, ch 5, s c, ch 8, turn work, s c in center p of last group of p, turn work. In this ch-8 loop, make 4 s c, ch 5, s c, ch 5, s c, ch 5, 4 s c. S c in next loop, ch 5, s c, ch 5, 4 s c; 4 s c in next loop, ch 5, s c, ch 5, s c, ch 5, 4 s c; 4 s c in next loop, ch 5, s c, ch 5, s c, ch 5, 4 s c. Join and break off. Make as many motifs as necessary. Join motifs together at the center p's keeping point at the outer edge.
