Small Ball:
J. & P. Coats —36 balls of White or Ecru, or 48 balls of any color,
or
Clark's O.N.T.—58 balls of White, Ecru or any color.
Big Ball:
J. & P. Coats —18 balls of White or Ecru.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 9 or 10.

Tablecloth measures about 72 x 90 inches.

GAUGE: 5 sps make 1 inch; 5 rows make 1 inch.

   Starting at bottom of chart, make a chain about 75 inches long (14 ch sts to 1 inch). 1st row: Dc in 8th ch from hook, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch (2 sps made), dc in next 9 ch (3 bls made), (ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch) 5 times; dc in next 9 ch, (ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch) twice; dc in next 60 ch (20 bls made), 5 sps, 54 dc (18 bls made), 12 sps, (9 dc, 8 sps) twice; 9 dc, 12 sps, 45 dc (15 bls made), 5 sps, 9 dc, 5 sps, 45 dc, 12 sps, 9 dc, 8 sps, 9 dc, 7 sps, 9 dc, 8 sps, 9 dc, 12 sps, 45 dc, 5 sps, 9 dc, 5 sps, 45 dc, 12 sps, 9 dc, (8 sps, 9 dc) twice; 12 sps, 54 dc, 5 sps, 60 dc, 2 sps, 9 dc, 5 sps, 9 dc, 2 sps. Cut off remaining chain. Note: Chart shows one quarter of design. To make other half of each row, omit center sp or bl, as the case may be, and work back to the beginning.
   Starting with 3rd row, follow chart to top, omit last row, then reverse chart and work back to 1st row. Fasten off.

EDGING … Ch 14. 1st row: Dc in 8th ch from hook, (ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch) twice. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: Dc in next dc, ch 2, in next dc make dc, ch 2 and dc; ch 2, dc in 3rd st of turning ch. Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: Dc in next dc, 2 dc in sp, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, 2 dc in sp, dc in 3rd st of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Dc in 3 dc, ch 2, dc in 3 dc, in next dc make dc, ch 2 and dc; ch 2, dc in 3rd st of turning ch. Ch 5, turn. 5th row: Dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in 4 dc, ch 2, dc in 3 dc, dc in top st of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. 6th row: Dc in 3 dc, ch 2, dc in 4 dc, ch 2, in next dc make dc, ch 2 and dc; ch 2, dc in top st of turning ch. Ch 5, turn. 7th row: Dc in next dc, (ch 2, dc in next dc) twice; dc in next 3 dc, ch 2, dc in next 3 dc, dc in top st of turning ch. Repeat pattern until piece is long enough to go around edge of cloth, matching sp for sp and allowing enough at corners to keep flat.
   Sew edging to cloth. Block to measurement.
