Ch 37. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 2 ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch; ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next 13 ch, ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 2 ch, dc in last ch. Ch 8, turn. 2nd row: Dc in next dc, dc in next 12 dc (4 bls over 4 bls made), ch 2, dc in next dc (sp over sp made), ch 5, dc in next dc (bar over lacet made), ch 2, dc in next 3 dc, dc in top st of turning ch. Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next ch, dc in next dc (1 bl increased), ch 5, skip 3 dc and 2 ch, dc in next dc, ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, dc in next dc (lacet over bar made), ch 5, skip 2 ch and 3 dc; dc in next 10 dc, ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch. Ch 8, turn. 4th row: Dc in next dc, make 2 bls, ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc (sp over bl made), make 1 lacet, 1 bar, 1 lacet, ch 2, skip 2 dc, make a foundation dc in top st of turning ch as follows: Thread over, insert hook in ch and pull loop through, thread over and draw through 1 loop on hook—a ch st made to be used as a foundation st for next dc; (thread over and draw through 2 loops) twice—foundation dc completed. * Thread over, insert hook in specified ch st and complete another foundation dc as before. Repeat from * once more; then, thread over, insert hook in ch at base of last foundation dc made and make 1 dc in the usual way (1 bl increased). Ch 5, turn.
   5th row: Inc 1 bl, ch 3, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, dc in next dc, make 1 bar, 1 lacet, 1 bar, ch 3, sc in next dc, ch 3, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc, make 1 bl, 1 lacet. Ch 8, turn. 6th row: Dc in next dc, make 1 sp, * 1 bar, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch, ch 2, dc in next dc (2 sps over 1 bar made). Repeat from * once more, make 1 bar, 1 bl. Ch 3, turn. Starting with the 7th row, follow chart until the 13th row is completed. Ch 8, turn. 14th row: Dc in next dc, make 2 bls, 1 sp, 1 lacet, 1 bar, 1 lacet, 1 sp, 1 bl. Turn (1 bl decreased). 15th row: Sl st in next 3 dc (1 bl decreased), ch 3 and follow chart across. Ch 8, turn. Now follow chart to top. Then repeat chart for length desired. Fasten off.
