Starting at center, ch 10, join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: 21 s c in ring. Join with sl st. 2nd rnd: Ch 5 (to count as tr), tr in each of next 2 s c, holding the last loop of each tr on hook; then, thread over hook and draw through all loops on hook (thus a 3-tr cluster is made); * ch 5, tr in each of next 3 tr (holding the last loop of each tr on the hook), then thread over hook and draw through all loops on hook. Repeat from * around (7 clusters). Join last ch-5 with sl st to tip of 1st cluster made. 3rd rnd: * 6 s c in next ch 5, s c in tip of cluster. Repeat from * around. Join. 4th rnd: * S c in each of 5 s c, 2 s c in next s c. Repeat from * around. Join. 5th rnd: * S c in each of 6 s c, 2 s c in next s c. Repeat from * around. Join. 6th and 7th rnds: S c in each s c around. Join. 8th rnd: Ch 5, * skip 1 s c, d c in each of next 3 s c, ch 2. Repeat from * around, ending rnd with d c in each of 2 d c, sl st in 3rd st of ch-5 first made. Hereafter work is done in rows (instead of rnds).

1st row: Sl st to center of 1st ch-2, * ch 7, sl st in next ch-2 sp. Repeat from * across, turn. 2nd and 3rd rows: Sl st to center of next loop, * ch 7, s c in next loop. Repeat from * across, turn. 4th row: Sl st to center of next loop, ch 5, * 3 d c in next loop, ch 2. Repeat from * across, turn. 5th row: 3-d tr cluster in each sp across, with ch-1 between each cluster. 6th to 17th rows incl: * S c in tip of cluster, s c in ch-1 sp. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 18th to 20th rows incl: S c in next s c, skip 1 s c (1 s c decreased), s c in each s c across, decreasing 1 s c at end of row. Ch 1, turn. 21st and 22nd rows: * S c in next s c, skip 1 s c. Repeat from * across. Break off.

Place bulb inside cover and sew edges together securely. Make a chain 15 inches long, then double the chain and make a knot about 1 inch from each end. Slip the chain through the 3 beads and sew ends to tip of bulb as in illustration.
