Starting at center ch 6, sl st in 1st ch, forming a ring. Rnd 1—12 sc in ring. Rnd 2—* Sc in next sc, ch 5. Repeat from * 10 more times; ch 2, dc in starting sc (12 loops). Rnd 3—* Ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * 10 more times; join with ch 2, dc in dc. Rnds 4 and 5—Work ch-6 loops, joining each rnd with ch 3, dc in dc. Rnds 6 and 7—Work ch-7 loops, join­ing with ch 3 and tr. Rnds 8 and 9—Work ch-8 loops, joining with ch 4 and tr. Rnd 10—* Ch 8, sc in next loop, ch 8, sc in same loop—inc made—ch 8, sc in next loop, ch 1, in next sc work 7 tr with ch-1 between; ch 1, sc in next loop—shell made. Repeat from * around (4 shells). Join last shell with sl st in joining tr of previous rnd. Rnd 11—Sl st to center of loop, sc in loop, (ch 8, sc in next loop) twice; * ch 8, sc in center of next shell, (ch 8, sc in next loop) 3 times. Repeat from * joining with ch 4, tr in first sc. Rnd 12—Ch 8, sc in next loop, * shell in next sc, sc in next loop, (ch 8, sc in next loop) 3 times. Repeat from * around. Join with ch-4, tr in tr. Rnd 13—Ch 8, sc in next loop, * ch 8, sc in center of next shell, (ch 8, sc in next loop) 3 times. Repeat from * around. Join as before. Rnd 14—Shell at base of joining, * sc in next loop, (ch 8, sc in next loop) 3 times; shell in next sc. Re­peat from * around. Join as before. Rnd 15—* Ch 5, sc in center of next shell, (ch 5, sc in next loop) 3 times. Repeat from * around joining with ch 2, dc in tr. Rnd 16—* Ch 4, sc in next loop. Re­peat from * around joining with ch 2, sc in dc. Note—Last rnd should fit snugly around neck of fishbowl. Rnd 17—* Ch 3, sc in next loop, ch 3, sc in same loop. Repeat from * around joining with ch 2, sc in sc (32 loops). Rnd 18—* Ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around joining with ch 2, dc in sc. Rnd 19—* Ch 3, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around joining with ch 2, sc in dc. Rnd 20—* Ch 7, draw up loop in each of next 2 loops, over and through 3 loops on hook—loop dec—(ch 7, sc in next loop) twice. Repeat from * around joining with ch 3, tr in sc (24 loops). Rnds 21-27 incl—* Ch 7, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around joining with ch 3, tr in tr. Rnd 28—4 sc over joining tr, * 3 sc in next loop, holding plastic ring at back work 2 sc in same loop (over ring), 3 sc in same loop, 8 sc in next loop. Repeat from * ending with 4 sc in same loop as first 4 sc. Join and end off.

Finishing—Insert fishbowl in crocheted netting. Cut velvet ribbon in half and draw in and out through rnd 18 making velvet bows at two sides. Cut velvet tub­ing into two drawstrings and pull through plastic rings, from opposite sides of bag. Crochet ball ends as follows: Ch 3, join with sl st into ring. Rnd 1—6 sc in ring. Rnd 2—2 sc in each st. Rnds 3 and 4—Sc in each st. Rnd 5—Dec 6 sts. End off. Insert both ends of one drawstring into ball and sew in place.
