Gauge: 7 star sts = 2"; 6 rows = 2"
CROWN—With L ch 4, sl st in 1st ch, forming a ring. Rnd 1—8 sc in ring. Rnd 2—2 sc in each st. Join with sl st in back loop of 1st sc. Hereafter always work in back loops only of each sc. Rnd 3—Ch 3, draw up loops in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, draw up loops at base of ch-3 and in next sc, over and through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1—star st made—* draw up loops in ch-1 of star st, in back of last loop of star st, in same sc last worked in and in next sc; over and through all 5 loops, ch 1. Repeat from * around drawing up last loop of last star st at base of starting ch-3 (16 star sts). Sl st in top of ch-3, sl st back in ch-1 of last star st. Note—All star st rnds are joined in this way. Rnd 4—Work 2 sc in ch-1 of each star st (32 sc). Sl st in back loop of 1st sc. Rnd 5—Repeat rnd 3 (32 star sts). Join as before. Rnd 6—Ch 1, * 2 sc in ch-1 of next star st, sc in ch-1 of next star st. Repeat from * around. Join (48 sc). Rnd 7—Repeat rnd 3. Join (48 star sts). Rnd 8—Ch 1, * 2 sc in next star st, sc in each of next 2 star sts. Repeat from * around (64 sc). Rnd 9—Repeat rnd 3 (64 star sts). Rnd 10—Ch 1, * 2 sc in next star st, sc in each of next 3 star sts. Repeat from * around (80 sc). Rnd 11—Repeat rnd 3 (80 star sts). Rnd 12—Ch 1, work sc in each star st. Join (80 sc). Rnds 13 through 18—Repeat rnds 11 and 12; at end of rnd 18, join with sl st in front loop of 1st sc.
BRIM—Rnd 1—With M through front loops, work sc inc in every 4th st around. Join. Rnd 2—Repeat rnd 3 of Crown (100 star sts). Rnd 3—Ch 1, work sc inc in every 5th star st around (120 sts). Rnd 4—120 star sts. Rnd 5—Ch 1, work sc in each star st (120 sts). End off.
FACING—From wrong side, with D work same as Brim, working 1st rnd through ridge inside base of Crown. Be sure Brim and Facing both have same number of sts. Do not end off.
Finishing—With double strand of D, working through both loops of each piece, sc in each st of Facing and Brim, thus joining. Sl st in 1st sc, end off. Press Brim with hot iron through dampened pressing cloth. Sew on ribbon, making bow at right side.

With D work same as In the Grand Manner Bag, for rnds 1 through 10; with M work rnds 11 through 16; then with L work remaining rnds. Mount on bag frame. Adjust fullness and fold gussets to inside.
