Mat is worked with a double strand of thread throughout.
With Yellow ch 9, 2 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 6 sts of ch, 3 s c in end st, working on other side of ch, 1 s c in each of the next 6 sts, 1 s c in same space with 1 st s c, join in 1st s c.
2nd RoundCh 1, 3 s c in same space, 1 s c in each of the next 8 s c, 3 s c in next s c, 1 s c in each of the next 8 s c, join in 1 st s c.
3rd Round1 s c in each s c on sides and 2 s c in each of the 3 center s c at each end, join.
4th Round1 s c in each s c on sides and 3 s c in center st at each end, join, drop Yellow. (When changing Color always complete last half of st with next Color).
5th RoundAttach White and work 2 s c in each of the 5 sts at each end and 1 s c in each s c on sides, drop White.

Attach White and work 1 s c in each of the 1st 14 s c, 1 s d c in each of the next 3 sts, working in d c work 1 d c in each s c to within the 3 corner sts, 2 d c in each of the 3 corner sts, 1 d c in each s c across top of petal, 2 d c in each of the 3 corner sts, then work down opposite side to correspond, working a long s c between petals working down into the White row, finish each petal in same manner, join, break White. Sew lower edge of petals together along the 14 s c.
