Approx. Size of Mat = 9 ½ x 10 ¾ inches

Mat is worked with a double strand of thread throughout.

With Black ch 10, 3 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 7 sts of ch, 3 s c in end st, working on other side of ch, 1 s c in each of the next 7 sts, join in 1st s c.

2nd Row—Ch 1, 1 s d c in each s c (s d c: thread over hook, insert in st, pull through, thread over and pull through all loops at one time).

3rd Row—Ch 3, 3 d c in same space, slip loop off hook, insert in 3rd st of ch and pull loop through, ch 2, * 4 d c in next st, drop loop off hook, insert in 1 st d c, pull loop through, ch 1 to tighten st (popcorn st), ch 1, repeat from * all around, join (20 popcorn sts), sl st between popcorn sts, drop Black. (When changing Color always complete last half of st with next Color).

4th Row—Attach Yellow, ch 3, 2 d c in same space, * 3 d c between next 2 popcorn sts, repeat from * all around, join, drop Yellow.

5th Row—With Black ch 3, popcorn st in next d c, * d c in next d c, popcorn st in next d c, repeat from * all around, join in 3rd st of ch (30 popcorn sts).

6th Row—Ch 3 (counts as 1 d c), work 2 d c in each d c and 1 d c in each popcorn st (90 d c), drop Black.

7th Row—With Yellow ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 8 sts, * ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 9 sts, repeat from * all around, ch 1, join.

8th Row—Ch 3, d c in same space, 1 d c in each of the next 7 d c, 2 d c in next d c, * ch 1, 2 d c in next d c, 1 d c in each of the next 7 d c, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around, ch 1, join.

9th Row—Ch 3, 1 d c in same space, * 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, 2 d c in next d c, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, 2 d c in next d c, 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, 2 d c in next d c, ch 1, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around ending row to correspond, join.

10th Row—Ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, * 2 d c in next d c, 1 d c in each of the next 7 d c, 2 d c in next d c, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, repeat from * all around ending row to correspond, join.

11th Row—Ch 3, d c in same space, * 1 d c in each of the next 15 d c, 2 d c in next d c, ch 1, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around ending row to correspond, join.

12th Row—Ch 3, d c in same space, * 1 d c in each of the next 5 d c, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 d c, 1 s c in each of the next 3 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 d c in each of the next 5 sts, 2 d c in next st, ch 1, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around ending row to correspond.

13th Row—Ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 5 sts, * 1 s d c in each of the next 3 sts, 1 s c in each of the next 3 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 3 sts, 1 d c in each of the next 6 sts, ch 1, 1 d c in each of the next 6 d c, repeat from * all around ending row to correspond.

EDGE—Attach White in 1st st of any petal, 1 s c in same st, 1 s c in each of the next 12 sts, skip next st, 1 s c in each st across same petal, 1 s c in sl st, ch 3, s c over the ch 2 loop of 13th row, working between petals, ch 2, s c over ch 2 loop of 12th row, continue working an s c over each 2 ch loop with ch 2 between each s c down to Black row, sl st in Black row, ch 2, turn, work up to top in same manner, repeat from beginning all around, join, break thread.
