These appropriate holders for gifts and showers are quick to make.

HOLDER: With White, ch 2, making first st twice usual length, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 7 tr, 2 dc, 1 hdc and 1 sc) in long st.
ROW 2: Ch 2, turn, sk sc, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next, (2 hdc in next) twice, (2 dc in next) twice, 5 dc in next, (2 dc in next) twice, (2 hdc in next) twice, 2 sc in next, 1 sc in next, sl st in next.
ROW 3: Ch 1, turn, sk sl st, (sc in 2 sts, 2 sc in next) 3 times, hdc in 2 sts, dc in 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, dc in 2 sts, hdc in 2 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in 2 sts) 3 times.
ROW 4: Ch 1, turn, sk last sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 hdc in next st, (1 dc in next, 2 dc in next) 7 times, 3 dc in next st, (2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next) 7 times, 2 hdc in next st, sc in 2 sts, sl st in next.
ROW 5: Ch 1, turn, sk sl st, (sc in 5 sc, 2 sc in next) 3 times, hdc in 3 sts, dc in 5 sts, 5 dc in next st, dc in 5 sts, hdc in 3 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in 5 sts) 3 times.
ROW 6: Ch 1, turn, sk last sc, sc in 2 sts, hdc in 2 sts, (2 dc in next st, dc in 2 sts) 3 times, dc in 17 sts, 3 dc in next st, dc in 19 sts, (2 dc in next st, dc in 2 sts) twice, 2 dc in next st, hdc in 2 sts, sc in 2 sts, sl st in next st.
ROW 7: Ch 2, turn, sk sl st and last sc, sc in 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, hdc in 2 sts, (2 dc in next st, dc in 3 sts) 5 times, dc in 7 sts, 5 dc in next st, dc in 10 sts, (2 dc in next st, dc in 3 sts) 4 times, 2 dc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc around top of work to start of this row. Fasten off.

EDGE: Join color, (ch 2, sl st in next second st) repeated around. Fasten off.

BOW DECORATION: With color, ch 4, 3 sc on chain. * (Ch 1, turn 3 sc) 3 times, ch 1, turn, sk last sc, sc in 2 sc, (ch 1, turn, 2 sc) twice, ch 1, turn, sk last sc, 1 sc, (ch 1, turn, 1 sc) 5 times, (ch 1, turn, 2 sc) 3 times, ch 1, turn, 1 sc, 2 sc in end sc. Repeat from * twice. (Ch 1, turn, 3 sc) 3 times. Fasten off.

BAND: With color, ch 7, 6 sc on chain. Fasten off. Keeping the same side of work up, form long strip into a bow, and tack band around center. Sew onto holder. Steam and press on back. Pad with a single thickness of flannel, then line with muslin. Sew a bone ring to top. Make a second holder.

HEART DECORATION: A crocheted braid, appliqued: With color, ch 5, 1 sc in first st, (ch 4, turn, 1 sc in last sc) repeat for required length (approximately 21 points on each side of braid) and sew to holder. Beginning at one end tack first 2 points made, over center of “ROW 1" on holder, so that inside points will touch center edge of “ROW 2," and outside points touch "ROW 6." Tack sc of end point to first outside point at center, thus joining ends.
