Circular Motif Pattern

A circular motif of this type and size lends itself to in­numerable articles. For the really ambitious we suggest a table cloth.

MATERIALS.—Ardern's crochet cotton No. 20 (old ticket number) or No. 40 (new ticket number). Two tatting shuttles (for round 1 only).

MEASUREMENTS.— 4½ ins. in diameter.

CENTER.
Ring.—2 ds. * 3 p. sep. by 1 ds., 3 ds., repeat from * 6 times more, 3 p. sep. by 1 ds., 1 p., close ring, tie and cut.

ROUND 1.
*Ring.—3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., join to center p. of group on center ring, 3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring, r.w.
Chain.—4 ds., 3 p. sep. by 1 ds., 4 ds.
Ring (with left-hand shuttle).—2 ds., 3 p. sep. by 2 ds., 2 ds., close ring.
Chain.—As before, r.w.
Repeat from * to end of round. Tie and cut.

ROUND 2.
Join thread to center p. of group on left of small ring.
*Chain.—3 ds., 8 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., join to center p. of group on right of ring, 3 ds., 1 p., 3 ds.
Repeat from * to end of round. Tie and cut.

ROUND 3.
*Ring 1.—3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., join to 6th p. of large chain, 3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring, r.w.
Chain.—4 ds., 3 p. sep. by 1 ds., 4 ds., r.w.
Ring 2.—3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., join to 5th p. of chain, 3 ds., join to 4th p. of chain, 3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring, r.w.
Chain.—As before.
Ring 3.—As ring 1 joining to 3rd p. of chain.
Chain.—As before.
Repeat from * to end of round, tie and cut.

ROUND 4.
*Ring.—3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., join to center p. of chain of previous round, 3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring.
Chain.—3 ds., 1 p., 3 ds., 3 p. sep. by 1 ds., 3 ds., 1 p., 3 ds. Repeat from * to end, tie and cut.
