Hanky Edging 2 Pattern

MATERIALS.—Ardern's crochet cotton No. 24 (old ticket number) or No. 60 (new ticket number). Tatting shuttle.

BORDER NUMBER 2.

ROW 1.             
Ring.—3 ds. (1 p., 3 ds.) 7 times, close ring, r.w.
Chain.—3 ds., 1 p., 3 ds., r.w.
* Ring.—3 ds., join to last p. of previous ring, 3 ds. (1 p., 3 ds.) 6 times, close ring, r.w.
Chain.—3 ds. (1 p., 3 ds.) 5 times, r.w.
Ring.—3 ds. (1 p., 3 ds.) twice, join to 5th p. of previous ring, 3 ds. (1 p., 3 ds.) 4 times, close ring, r.w.
Chain.—3 ds., 1 p., 3 ds., r.w.
Repeat from * for length required.

CORNER.
Work as many repeats as required, then repeat 2nd ring and small chain once more. Continue from * as before.

ROW 2.
Work as directed for row 1 but join center picot of three free picots to corresponding picot on ring of previous row, each time.

CORNER.
The corner ring on 1st row has 5 free picots instead of 3. Work long chain, then work ring as usual joining to 2nd free picot of corner ring.
Chain.—3 ds. (1 p., 3 ds.) 3 times, r.w.
Ring.—3 ds. join to last p. of previous ring, 3 ds., 1 p., 3 ds., join to center p. of corner ring on 1st row, 3 ds. (1 p., 3 ds.) twice, close ring, r.w.
Chain.—3 ds. (1 p., 3 ds.) 3 times, r.w.
Ring.—As usual, joining 1st p. to last p. of previous ring and 3rd p. to next p. of corner ring on 1st row.
Work long chain and continue as before until next corner is reached.
