MATERIALS.—1 ball Ardern's crochet cotton No. 20 (old ticket number) or No. 40 (new ticket number). Tatting shuttle.

MEASUREMENTS.—12 ins. in diameter.

MOTIF CENTER

Ring 1.—3 ds., 5 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring, r.w.
Chain 1.—3 ds., 5 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., r.w.
*Ring 2.—As ring (1) joining 2nd p. to 4th p. of previous ring, r.w.
Chain.—As before.
Repeat from * twice more, joining 4th p. of last ring to 2nd p. of first, tie and cut.

ROUND 1
*Ring 1.—3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., join to center p. of chain of center motif, 3 ds., 2 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., close ring., r.w.

1.—Work a motif as for center, but make 6 p. on chain instead of 5, joining 3rd and 4th p. of 2nd chain to 3rd and 4th p. of chain beneath trefoil of previous round, and 3rd and 4th p. of 3rd chain, to chain beneath opposite petal.
2.—Work motif as above again, but join 5th and 6th p. of 2nd chain, to inside p. on corresponding chain of previous motif, and 1st and 2nd p. on 3rd chain to corresponding p. on next chain.
3.—Make a small loop in thread and starting here work :—
Chain.—3 ds., 4 p. sep. by 3 ds., 3 ds., join to 2nd p. of chain of previous round, 3 ds., join to 1st p. of same chain, 3 ds., r.w.
